 VIDEO MOTION DETECTOR
This excellent unit uses the very latest
technology to detect movement in the camera video output. This makes it ideal for
protecting individual items or areas that are in the camera's vision, such as a till,
doorway, locker, vehicle door handle etc,
The motion detector has at
least 5 major advantages over P.I.R. detectors.
1 - There is no need for any separate detection
devices ( as it uses the actual picture) making it ideal for covert use and also in
vulnerable or vandal prone situations.
2 - Because it uses the actual picture, it can be
used to detect motion through glass, making it easy to set up a concealed camera, viewing
through a window.
3 - It can be set up to ignore most of an area, but
will trigger when someone, for example, picked up a handbag, tried a car door handle, or
opened a till draw or a cupboard.
4 - The detection area ( or dot ) can be
re-positioned in seconds, to cover a different area e.g parked vehicles which are not in
the same place every time.
5 - In a multi-camera situation, the motion detector
can be easily moved to a different camera as required, making it very flexible and
economical to use.
HOW IT WORKS.
Once connected, the video motion detector works using an "on screen display"
consisting of four white rectangles. These rectangles can be positioned anywhere in your
visual display, they can also be adjusted individually, horizontally or vertically to
cover a larger or smaller area ( see pictures ). Once you have positioned the rectangles
to protect the area you require, you can choose whether the dots remain visible or not on
your monitor and VCR.
If there is any movement or sudden change of light
level in the selected area, the video motion detector goes into an alarm condition
emitting an audible warning tone ( which can be silenced if required). The unit has
several different types of alarm contacts, that can be used to activate other equipment
when in alarm mode, e.g. the AUTOMATIC VIDEO CONTROLLER or an alarm system, this makes it
ideal for unmanned or rarely visited sites.
The use of this equipment, in a rarely visited or
remote site, can by utilising the automatic video controller and a normal domestic VCR
give good coverage, without the labour intensive problems associated with time lapse VCRs. |
